For our first blog post, we would like to start off with a editorial by Alex Wellever.

Black and White, Up and Down, but Red and Green?

Most people think that if you are a “Red” person, you’re not going to live

when the world becomes “Red.” Just so you all know, on the color wheel, red is across from green. A “Green” person is truly a“Green” person. A “Red” person is truly an “anti “Green” person.”

The world is turning red so fast. Did you know that because of climate change, there is now a chance of a hurricane hitting New York City sometime in the future? Is that at all normal? I thought not. The average American life expectancy is around 80. Because of climate change, a hurricane from Miami, Florida can reach New York City, New York within a day and a half? I do not know about you, but that is definitely a whole lot quicker than 80 years.

Take a moment, and do something green. Turn from “Red” to “Green.” It is as simple as pie. Speaking of pie, how about every ten green activities you do, you get a piece of pie.

There is a quote that says “Do not judge a book by its cover.” I like to change it around and make it, “Do not judge anything by how it looks.” If becoming a “Green” and not a “Red” looks hard, just try it. It is so easy, even a caveman could do it! Here are a few tips that sure can help you get that piece of pie:

  1. Turn off appliances after use.
  2. Buy one large gallon of milk rather than several smaller containers of it because of all of the energy wasted to make the numerous containers. Also, try to buy it organic and locally. If not, try soy milk. Cows emit a gas that harms the earth.
  3. Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, and Rebuy!
